MASH Project in collaboration with The placement cell of Institute of Home Economics (DU) organised “Launchpad Orientation Workshop” on 29th September 2016. Led by Mr. Akshit Jain, the initiative aims to focus on how college students can get access to internships in different organisations working in social sector. With the dream of molding the youth to become changemakers and influencers for tomorrow, the workshop acted as a platform to facilitate college youth and young professionals looking to intern and volunteer at different organisations working for bringing social changes and henceforth get the experience, exposure, expertise and inspiration to do so themselves.
The aim of this workshop was to enhance profile building and personal branding skills among the students. The event started with a talk by Mr. Swastik – Project Manager for Nexus programme. He provided a brief info about MASH – its vision and its perspective. He talked about the establishment of MASH, its growth over the years and the work it has done in the field of social entrepreneurship. He also described about the various workshops, seminars and events organised under MASH collaborating youth brigade from all over India.
The event continued further, with an interactive session by certified trainer Mr. Aditya Sisodia. He enlightened the audience with his talk on personal branding and its role in career building. In a prompt chit chat session with the audience, he asked them their views on personal branding. He continued further by elaborating its significance in the corporate world and how can we be our own brand. His basic idea was that our brand is a perception of emotion, maintained by somebody other than us, that describes the total experience of having a relationship with us. He moved ahead by discussing the role of elevator pitch in building personal brand- that is the way we present ourselves in front of people that leaves long lasting impression on them.
Apart from this, the session included training on profile building. He highlighted the significance of having an appropriate and updated resume, that is our personal marketing brochure with the goal of gaining the recruiter’s attention and to give them the information they need to know to bring us to the next step in hiring process. Highlighting the competition in this corporate world, he told that around 50 resumes are received by the recruiter for 1 job profile and they spend 6 seconds visiting each profile. He stressed that our resume should be influential enough to catch the eyes of recruiter and should outline our background, skills, education, achievements, awards and our personal information. He described appropriate format of writing a resume, various pros and cons to be followed and difference between a resume and a CV (Curriculum Vitae).
At the end he discussed about various mobile applications such as Jobscan, Photofeeler, Recruit’em, Rapportive and Arbunize designed by the technical department of MASH.
Ending the session, Ms. Surbhi Nigam Tula- COO and Co-founder of Kaizen Training Solutions pvt limited, answered the queries and gave vote of thanks.
The event was a great success, receiving huge applause from the audience. It provided the students who were walking in a tunnel of darkness, a ray of light, an insight to the world of their dreams. “
We dream to create such an impact in youth and inspire them to work on social causes to bring about changes themselves. We aim to inspire the youth to create a difference and become the tools of change to reform the society we are living in. With more such workshops we hope for the youth generation to be motivated and encouraged to work for social causes and create an impact in the society.
